showtime

November 5, 2008

We’re now onto show week and everything’s going slightly smoother than previously, possibly becuase it now all feels like it’s coming to an end soon so we may as well keep up. While I’ve still found Mat kind of annoying at times (today Kieron was looking for him while me and Jane cleaned the venue and he was in the dressing room doing his hair) I have learned a few things from him, while I still thought I’d be managing CTP.

We discussed what would be classified as having to be risk assessed, and what’s not, how managing CTP is different to drama and before he told me how he works with marketing as a stage manager (and also explained that that was where he spent most of his time). So that was interesting and helpful. However despite this I still think I’ll learn more from Hannah during panto.

random note for self

If your late don’t lie about it. Mat first told Kieron on the phone (on Friday) that he’d text us both to say we weren’t needed. Neither of us got a text. Then when I bumped into him when he came in he said he’d set his alarm wrong setting it for nine thirty that night rather than that morning, though I’m not sure why he would set it anyway since he’d orinally said be in for 10 anyway (and that would never have made it in for 10 where he lives).

It’s much better if you just say the truth and say you mucked it up, so I’m going to keep that in mind.

a woman of no importance

October 13, 2008

with this being such a prop light show, i’m seriously wondering about our call times for the mornings. Today (Monday 13 October) kind of makes sense as Kieron is going to scottish opera and the citz, but I came in, done nothing and then was asked if I wanted to go on an extended break. What may have been more productive would’ve possibly been to ask Kieron if he could come in this morning to go with Gillian in the van, then get me to come in this afternoon (or vice versa) rather than having one of us doing nothing while the other is working, which is rather unfair.

Today I have: copied panto scripts for myself and for Mat’s prompt book, as well as blocking, calls and cues sheets for him. I’m also trying to source 63 non-descript chairs for this show which is fine, however I’ve to arrange for Cesca to see them, but she’s not in to find out when the best day or time is for her, esspecially as I think she’ll have to go to various places as I kind of doubt we could get 63 of the same style of chair from one place.
